Just be careful not to leave with a Pug!

Surely there is nothing better than having a warm hot chocolate accompanied by a snuggly, warm pug to cuddle? How about 10 snuggly warm pugs? Sounds good!

Cuppapug has locations in the US and UK, and has an overall aim of raising awareness about the breed and supporting rescue Pug to find their way into adoptive, loving homes. We went to celebrate a birthday, as something different to do right on our doorstep. Initially the entry fee might seem a bit high - as you then buy drinks and cake on top if you want it - however knowing that the money is keeping a rehoming charity going is a great thing and worth it. Especially when you have met some of the pugs!

Sessions are an hour long, and after a short briefing on what not to do, and what to do, the pugs are released. There were between 10 and 15 pugs during our session, a mixture of the house favourites (the owners own gang) such as Paddy, the incredible cute Gizmo and Derek, as well as a selection of dogs up for adoption, wearing pink bandanas. This is a great way of allowing people to get to know the dogs in a friendly environment, and results in many being rehomed super quickly. Polly made a beeline for Nina’s lap, and did not move for the whole 60 minutes!

The drinks were nice - big marshmallowy hot chocolate and nice coffee, with the option to buy some pug treats for a quid which they go wild for. Derek in particular loved the pugacchino, sticking his snout right into the cup. This was a great thing to do in Manchester - and I can confirm that despite some quite deep consideration, Polly did not end up coming home with us!
